Home Journal Explanation and Guidelines

Dear Parents,

At the end of each week, your child will write to you in their “Home Journal”. They will tell you about our week and what we are working on. Please respect that it is an unedited piece of writing. The purpose is both to help your child think about the week’s learning and also create ongoing communication with you. The communication is between you and your child. We will be posting on our class blogs as a form of communication from your class teacher and you. Should you have any concerns, feel free to email me directly.

Please take a moment to read and respond as often as possible. Home Journals are private. Please write a short comment back to your child. A simple sentence or two is recommended.

Some suggestions for comments back to your child are:

I notice…

I was proud of…

I think…

It seems like…

I love the way…

Please try to…

I’m excited about…

Our goal is to move toward weekly emails from your child. Please note that your child is responsible to bring his or her Home Journal back to school every Monday. There will be NO HOME JOURNALS if there is no school on Friday’s.

Thank You,

Ms. Hargreaves and Miss Willis
