New Year, New Learning for grade 4

Oki,
Happy New Year!

As usual our neurons have been firing to transform our thinking. We have been continuing our learning about simple machines in science as I'm sure your child has shared with you.

Some really wonderful design thinking is happening in the Makerspace to  create machine prototypes.  Here are some photos for you to talk about:
 Ideating to build prototype

 Testing our designs
Sharing our designs and giving feedback for prototype 2.
Displaying in our embassy to share our thinking.

Today's work in our visual sketch journals to illustrate understanding of simple machines and how important they are in our everyday lives.

Math Learning:

We have been learning about Perimeter, Area and angles in math.  Here are some links for you to talk about at home:  https://www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/perimeter.html

Here is a link for the online protractor tool for measuring angles:

We have been investigating Steve Wyborney's Esti Mysteries to work on our critical thinking skills to develop estimation referents  here is a link for you to try them together:  https://www.stevewyborney.com/?p=1744
