Learning Highlights from April 8-11, 2019

Oki,
Thank you to all the parents who came to celebrate in your child's learning during our student led conferences on Thursday and Friday.  I hope your thinking was transformed.

Social Studies and Art Connections:  We have been working on our medicine wheel prototypes to understand the importance of the circular cycles of our world.  We have been looking this time at the 4 quadrants that help heal us  and represent balance in our lives:  sharing, crying, prayer and laughter.  The medicine wheel is a universal symbol for connections, relationships, harmony, unity and wholeness.   We brainstormed learning connections that would fit in each of these quadrants.  For example, we could put the bison under the sharing quadrant because the bison shared every part of itself with the Blackfoot and supported the ecosystem.  We could put raindrops under crying because when it rains, the clouds are crying and giving us precious water for survival.

We will continue exploring and understanding the medicine wheel when we head up to Nose Hill on April 29th, 2019.  If you are able to Volunteer between 8:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m.  Please email me.  Thank you.
