As you know we have been working with our grade 2 buddies on developing different prototypes of medicine wheels in preparation for our trip to Nose Hill. This week we began our own prototype representing the Blackfoot medicine wheel for a balanced life. The 4 quadrants are: sharing, crying, laughter and prayer. Here are some photos:
We have been reading a wonderful book called Thirteen Moons on the Turtle's Back which symbolizes the stories connected to the lunar calendar used by indigenous groups. Did you know that every turtle has 13 scales on it's back? Ask your child to tell you one of the stories of the moons, they are beautiful and filled with scientific connections.
We got a surprise when we opened up the vermicomposter to feed our red wigglers: Take a look and see what's growing:
This is a good sign that the compost is rich in nutrients. Thanks to our worm friends.
